Truth About Canada

As Ryder sat feeling confused, Mr. Saskatchewan went on to explain.

“You see Ryder, Canada is a safe and desired place, but the reason it is so safe is because of 13 special people, The Provincial Guardians,” explained Mr. Saskatchewan. “Each provincial Guardian is responsible for their own provinces’ or territories’ well-being. Each of us have a special power that not only helps keep our citizens safe but keeps them thriving.”

Mr. Saskatchewan then opened up his hand in front of Ryder. He closed his eyes and right in the palm of his hand a tree started to grow.

Ryder then realized that Mr. Saskatchewan had an ability that allowed him to grow plants!

“So, you see, when you saved me from an awful death, you saved the fate of Saskatchewan. Which is awfully mighty considering when one province falls down, the others do to.”

Ryder, who was intrigued yet still in shock over the news, then asked, “Why would the fall of Saskatchewan affect the rest of the nation’s wellbeing?”

Mr. Saskatchewan looked Ryder dead in the eyes and replied, “Our powers only work when we are all safe ourselves. So, with me dead, it would have altered the condition of every other province and territory. If I was dead, no other guardian would be able to access their powers or look after their region, and one by one, each province or territory would crumble.”

Mr. Saskatchewan then asked Ryder to hand him his phone. Once he got it in his hands, he called the other Guardians.

“Hey fellow Guardians. I have some information for you. I’m sure by now you have realized that your powers weakened earlier today, and I just want you guys to know, everything is fine. I am alive. However, my life, and the preservation of your abilities, are all thanks to a cowboy, Ryder. He saved my life today.”

The conversation went on as Mr. Saskatchewan explained his accident and introduction with Ryder. When Mr. Saskatchewan hung up the phone he was beaming with excitement.

He said, “Ryder, everyone is so happy and thankful for you today, they all want you to meet them in their regions so they can thank you and reward you in person.”

“They want to meet me?” asked Ryder. “All I did was save someone in need, which is anything someone decent would do.”

Mr. Saskatchewan shook his head, “Do not sell yourself short, cowboy. You showed extreme bravery and selflessness. So, you will accept the offers and go and meet the guardians. You did not just save one man, you saved millions. Don’t forget that.”

Ryder, feeling empowered by Mr. Saskatchewan’s words, agreed. Mr. Saskatchewan handed him a map with each Guardians’ headquarters circled.

Ryder tucked the map into his shirt pocket and said, “I’ll leave first thing tomorrow.”
